Consolidated Refinery Group S.A.L. (CRG)
The CRG oil refinery in Cyprus processes crude oil and produces finished products such as Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG). This is a domestic fuel used for cooking and heating, three grades of gasoline, aviation turbine fuel, illuminating kerosene, gas oil or diesel, light fuel oil, heavy fuel oil and bitumen.
The refinery was designed to process Kirkuk crude oil from Northern Iraq. In the absence of the Kirkuk crude oil, the next best crude oil to meet the designated market demand is the Russian Export Blend (REB) and the Syrian crude oil.
The refinery, based on 340 operating days per year, has a design capacity of approximately 1.200.000 tons of crude oil annually. It normally produces sufficient quantities of motor gasoline, illuminating kerosene, light fuel oil and bitumen to satisfy the Cyprus inland market requirements.
The refinery production of liquefied petroleum gas, aviation turbine fuel, gas oil and heavy fuel oil are not sufficient to meet market demands and the shortfalls are met by imports.
