BB Energy is pleased to confirm the lifting of its first cargo under renewed arrangements for the supply of prepaid crude oil with the Republic of South Sudan.
BB Energy 14 February 2026
The shipment, comprising approximately 600,000 barrels of DAR Blend crude, marks a significant and positive milestone following constructive engagement with the highest authorities at the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Petroleum. Their leadership and proactive approach reflect a shared determination to stabilise and advance the long-standing partnership between BB Energy and the Republic of South Sudan.
Following a series of high-level meetings, the parties have jointly developed a comprehensive repayment framework and forward cargo delivery schedule, with draft documentation currently under review by the relevant South Sudanese authorities. Further meetings in Juba with the Minister of Finance and the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Petroleum are scheduled in the coming days, with the objective of finalising a mutually acceptable agreement without delay.
Mohamed Bassatne, CEO of BB Energy, commented:
“The lifting of this cargo represents an important first step and a very positive development for both BB Energy and the Republic of South Sudan. Acting under the instructions of H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit, the Hon. Dr. Bak Barnaba Chol and the Hon. Dr. Chol Deng Thon Abel have worked tirelessly and constructively to unlock this progress. I would like to sincerely thank them and their teams for their professionalism, commitment, and openness over recent months.
“We now look forward to concluding the comprehensive agreement covering the remaining deliveries under our prepayment arrangement as soon as possible, and to restoring the strong, mutually beneficial relationship that has characterised BB Energy’s engagement with South Sudan for many years.”

Notes to Editors
In February 2025, BB Energy entered into a prepayment arrangement for the future supply of DAR Blend crude oil from the Republic of South Sudan. Such structures are widely used across the energy industry to secure long-term strategic crude supply.
Deliveries were subsequently impacted by exceptional circumstances, notably the pipeline rupture in February 2024, which led to prolonged supply disruptions and financial pressures affecting the Republic of South Sudan and resulted in delays under the agreement.
