Our Traded Products
We trade all components of the barrel as well as specialized oil products and gas.
BB Energy trades a wide range of crude oil grades totalling around 10.1 million metric tonnes in 2025, sourced from different geographic regions including the Middle East, north, west and east Africa, with significant volumes also coming from Latin America and the US. Europe and the US were key destinations in 2025.
The Crude Oil trading business represented 29 per cent of the Group’s total volumes traded in 2025.
BB Energy is a leading player in the global Middle Distillates market with a robust volumes performance in 2025 with 11.2 million metric tonnes of Gasoil and Jet Fuel traded, an increase of around 8 per cent compared to 2024.
Our global book of middle distillates is made up of a wide range of products including Gasoil, Diesel and Jet Fuel.
Apart from our core presence in the EMEA region, we have a activities around much of the world particularly in the Americas and Far East, with exciting opportunities opening up in Africa.
The Group has consolidated its trading business in Europe while further growth came from South America and the Indian subcontinent. Our arbitrage and logistical capabilities ensure consistent and timely fulfilment of our customer’s requirements.
We act as swing suppliers of gasoline into the African and Mediterranean markets.
In 2025 BB Energy traded 4.37 million metric tonnes of Gasoline and 627 thousand metric tonnes of naptha. In total BB Energy traded 4,99 million tonnes of Light Ends,
an increase on the previous year’s trading performance and the highest volumes since 2021.
The company actively seeks to capitalise on synergies with its downstream networks. For example, in Morocco BB Energy has now reached the milestone of 30 retail sites,
which is a condition of acquiring a license to import and distribute Gasoline and other products.
BB Energy is also active in sourcing and supplying components of Gasoline for blending and is active in the global Naphtha market, with strengthened trading teams
in Singapore and the US. The Group works closely with petrochemical plants and Gasoline blenders in all regions.
BB Energy has been a leading fuel oil trader since 1972, where we have a well established presence in the Mediterranean. More recently trading opportunities have expanded across Africa, the Americas and Indian sub-continent through term supplies.
BB Energy’s traded volumes of Fuel Oil remained steady at 5.4 million metric tonnes in 2025.
The Group started trading LPG in 2015 and we have now expanded our foothold in LPG around the world including Bangladesh, the US Gulf Coast, the Far East and Mediterranean markets.
BB Energy is expanding its operations in Liquid Gases, with a particular focus on LPG. This initiative aligns with the company’s plans to diversify its product portfolio and
foster growth across traditional, transitional, and renewable products. In 2025, BB Energy traded 1.9 million metric tonnes of LPG, a substantial 72 per cent increase over 2024 volumes, alongside 67 thousand metric tonnes of LNG.
We are one of the leading LPG suppliers to Bangladesh, supplying Omera Petroleum Ltd. (“OPL”) and other domestic LPG players. OPL is the largest integrated LPG terminal, bottling, and distribution facility in Bangladesh, which the Group invested in together with a local partner and an international development institution.
In 2016, we established an LNG trading desk to develop this new product line by hiring dedicated personnel. In more recent years the Group has taken a selective view on LNG trades.
Base Oils are used to manufacture products including lubricating greases, motor oil, waxes and metal processing fluids.
Through its 100 percent owned Geneva based subsidiary, BB Energy Suisse S.A, BB Energy is an established player in this sector, where expertise is particularly important. We have access to all major base oil producers, refineries and distributors on a worldwide basis which ensures we can meet all requirements for any sort of base oil, including Group I, II and III paraffinic & naphthenic base oils and waxes.
BB Energy is a growing player in the global bitumen industry through our 3B Group subsidiary. To help meet our bitumen clients’ needs we are continuing to develop our four specialised bitumen subsidiaries: 3B Trading, 3B Shipping, Bitubulk and Maris Petrokimya.
BB Energy’s 3B Trading Business achieved strong results in 2025, with trading volumes reaching 522 thousand metric tonnes.
Today 3B Group has become a major independent player in the trading, transportation, and distribution of bitumen in the Mediterranean, Arabian Gulf, Europe, Asia, and Africa.
Our bitumen products can be supplied by specialised chartered tankers, ISO containers, steel drums and polymer bags of different weight capacities.
BB Energy Asia, BB Energy Trading UK and BB Energy Belgium now have International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC), a voluntary certification scheme that is applicable to the bioeconomy and circular economy for bio-based products. We aim to increase our traded volumes in this sector given the projected growth in demand for biofuels.
In autumn 2025, BB Energy announced its strategic entry into the power and gas trading market as part of a broader initiative to diversify its trading portfolio and accelerate growth in lower-carbon and energy transition sectors.
This expansion reflects the company’s ambition to diversify its business and increase the share of income derived from power and gas trading, derivatives, and renewables. Over the next two years, BB Energy aims to significantly increase the trading profit generated from these areas, signalling a clear shift toward a more balanced and future-focused trading model.
To support this strategy, BB Energy has established a dedicated power and gas trading function, with new hires based in Geneva, Houston and London.
The Power and Gas Team was established on 1 October 2025 and in the final quarter of the year it traded 10.9 TWh of power and 535,000 tonnes of carbon. This is enough
to power 3 million homes, or a city the size of London, for a full year.
We continually strive to identify opportunities and relationships that complement our core business offerings. This can typically be condensate, and small quantities of specialised oil products.
“At BB Energy, we’re not just trading energy; we’re driving global progress by responsibly providing safe, reliable access to energy that empowers people, communities and businesses.”
